How to get the best from our soy wax melts ...

Here at The little Soap Shed we only use soy wax for our scented candles and wax melts. They are highly scented with the best quality fragrance oils.
Although soy wax initially appears a little more expensive there are benefits attached to it that we believe make it a much better product than candles and melts which use paraffin wax.

As a natural product (made from soya beans) soy wax is better for the environment. It burns more cleanly than paraffin wax and doesn’t produce soot which can discolour decor and maybe contain carcinogenic toxins. As well as producing a cleaner burn, soy wax also burns at a lower temperature. This has major advantages. It means that the fragrance is released more slowly and consistently leading to a more regular and longer lasting fragrance compared to the rather strong (but short lived) initial burst associated with paraffin wax. We believe that the longer lasting fragrance that you get from soy products actually makes them better value for money overall when compared to paraffin wax products. We recommend that you use a soy wax tea light in your burner as this burns at a lower temperature - further enhancing the scent throw.

All of our products are developed and tested to ensure you receive the best product possible. We handcraft all of our candles and wax melts and they are poured and cured in small batches. This allows us to concentrate on consistent excellent quality though the exact colour and appearance may then vary slightly between batches.
Soy wax can sometimes develop “frosting.” This is because it is a totally natural product. Frosting does not affect their use in any way. The scent throw is not diminished.

Our wax melts are intended for single use - each wax melt will give a strong scent throw filling the room with gorgeous scent for hours. Fragrances have different characteristics and some will have stronger scent throws than others. For best results burn for between 2 and 6 hours (though some scents may last even longer than this.)

Wax ‘tarts’ are generally larger than melts. They are designed to be cut into smaller pieces before burning. It is always better to use your wax tarts this way than simply keeping one big wax tart in your burner for longer periods.

When your melt has finally lost its scent make sure that you remove the left over wax from your burner and clean before placing a new wax melt in the dish.
